St. Mary Barnes Scout Group

Now the only Scout Group in Barnes, St. Mary Barnes Scout Group was founded in the early 1920s. The Group amalgamated with the Barn Elms Scout Group in the 1980's.

St. Mary Barnes Scout Group is sponsored by St. Mary Barnes Church. It is not a "closed" Group and members of the Group are not expected to be members of the Church. However, all members of the Group are expected to attend Church Parades, unless:

  • they have a simultaneous commitment at another church
  • belong to a religious organisation, membership of which is incompatible with attendance at an Anglican Church
  • they are ill

Children also have an obligation to attend the annual St. George's Day Parade and renewal of their Promise in April. Acceptance of these obligations is a condition of the membership of St. Mary Barnes Scout Group.

There are sections for:

  • Beavers for girls and boys from ages 6 to 8 with meetings on both Tuesday (Tigers) at 5:30 to 7:00pm and Friday (Falcons) at 5:30 until 7:00pm.
  • Two Cub Packs for girls and boys from ages 8 to 10½ - Blue Pack meet on Thursday nights from 6 until 7:30pm and Yellow Pack on Wednesday from 6:30 until 8pm
  • Scouts for boys and girls aged 10½ - 14½ and meet on a Tuesday night from 7:30 - 9pm
