A vision for Barnes

The newly established Barnes Town Team is planning an event to involve the community in creating a vision for the future of Barnes. The Barnes community visioning day will be held on 19 October at the Old Sorting Office.

Residents, community groups and local businesses are invited to come to the OSO to share ideas about the future of Barnes. You will hear the results of the Love Barnes? research into shopping habits and from the Council’s recent Barnes Town Centre Healthcheck. This will be used as a basis for creative discussion about what could be done to improve Barnes with examples from experts about what other villages have done and how this could work in Barnes. The end result, a vision for the next five to ten years, will form the basis of the Town Team’s business plan. If enough local people get involved in shaping the vision, it will represent a powerful statement of the wishes of the community for the future of Barnes. Driven by the localism agenda, a community vision can help to influence Council spending and can be the driving force for change. Please put 19 October in your diaries. Full details of the timings and agenda for the community visioning day will be published over the coming months.
