Matthew Barley is internationally known as a cellist, improviser, arranger and music animateur. In recent seasons he has performed at some of the world's great concert halls, from London's Wigmore Hall and the Royal Albert Hall via the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires to Korea's Kumho Hall and the Pablo Casals Hall in Tokyo. Known for his adventurous and innovative programming, Matthew's current project, Around Britten, was a centenary celebration of concerts, workshops, outreach and education events that has taken him all over the UK to wide acclaim.
